Crop Cafeteria

The department of genetics and Plant Breeding Farm spread over 7 acres, which is utilized for crop cafeteria, experiential learning, student projects, and seed multiplication programs.

The Crop Cafeteria is an instructional and demonstration unit where different crop species and varieties are grown in one place. It provides practical exposure to undergraduate students by showcasing the morphological diversity, growth habits and management practices of various crops.

  • Helps students identify and differentiate between various field and horticultural crops.
  • Provides hands-on experience in crop morphology, growth stages, and varietal characteristics.
  • Aids in experiential learning, allowing students to observe crop performance under uniform conditions.
  • Serves as a practical field classroom for studying crop taxonomy, classification, and adaptation.
  • Supports student projects, seed production, and demonstration activities.
  • Encourages research interest and improves observation and analytical skills among students.
