Integrated Farming System (IFS)

The college farm hosts a Wetland-Based Integrated Farming System (IFS) model unit on 0.5 acres, showcasing sustainable and resource-efficient farming practices. A unique feature of this model is a 4 ft x 4 ft poultry shed built directly above a fish pond, allowing for seamless integration of poultry and fish farming. The shed accommodates 20poultry birds, and their droppings are used as a natural supplement to feed the fish fingerlings. This efficient system not only reduces input costs but also enhances nutrient cycling, offering students valuable insight into sustainable farming models suitable for small and marginal farmers.
